Uh. But the the entire story revolved around the covenant finding Earth. From the first time you saw the Pillar of Autumn. Lets be honest. Halo was never actually the main chunk of the story. Sure it was a detour and had it's own bits and pieces, but it was always about stopping the covenant from going to Earth.

^^That's one of the things Halo 2 did right. You were on Earth for what, 3 missions? Then you're back to where you should be.

Having the name Halo doesn't mean you have to be on Halo at least half the game. It's like saying the Return of the King should have been purely Aragorn taking his crown and not Frodo *accidentally* destroying The One Ring. Halo games (except ODST & Reach) were about stopping the Covenant from using the Halo rings to begin their "Great Journey" and blow everything to living hell AND stopping the invasion of Earth.

What he said. Halo is a franchise, put simply that is why it is in the name. You are within the Halo universe (not the ring-object Halo).

Its a shame the Earth mission were dull and boring. The game was struggling to keep my attention until we got to The Ark. After that I wanted to know more about it, why it was there etc. We could have at least had on more mission on The Ark, and 2 more on Halo. As far as I'm concerned Sierra 117 didn't even need to exist, parts of Tsavo highway and The Storm could have been cut to merge them into one mission as well. All you needed was Arrival, Crows Nest, Tsavo Hwy+Storm hybrid and Floodgate. Hell if you wanted, leave The Ark only 2 missions and give another to explore High Charity and maybe even see the Gravemind again. Something to keep it more interesting.
