These reasons are why I don't hate on MS too much, even if I massively disagree with a lot of their choices. I have an Xbox, so I can play Halo, and after several years of branching out to different games, it's alright to me if there is never a new HEK.

Just think, if Halo hadn't left mac to come onto the xbox and massively helped lift its reputation, Apple would have ended up buying bungie, after realizing the profit they could make they'd have made a games console.

You're forgetting that Halo wouldn't have been what it was if MS hadn't bought Bungie from Mac.

Halo was never Mac-only. It was going to be for both the PC and Mac before MS stepped in.

I think the original plan was to make a badass FPS on platforms. Microsoft came in and said, "Hey, your game looks cool. Why don't you risk everything and put it on our not-even-finished console instead?"

Bungie was in financial trouble and they approached Apple first looking for someone to buy the company.
Apple initially declined the offer and microsoft caught wind of it.
If you want to point fingers, look no further than the massive recall Bungie had to do because several thousand discs had a glitch and downloadable patches weren't very common then.

Marathon was such an awesome series (is?) and that's why Apple was originally interested in them. I'm not sure why Apple didn't pursue buying Bungie, but I'm really glad MS did simply because it's led to my favorite gaming franchise to date.

Since way back when it was still an RTS. It's been mentioned a couple times before, including in a tweet by MartyTheElder, where he was 'amazed' by how many people still thought it was suppose to just be for the Mac (when they've stated otherwise before).

never used it really. the only clan I was a part of was I never got past peon in because the leader was some d-bag wanting mindless followers, hugboxes and asspats.

Yeah unfortunately for bungie that also meant they were microsoft's bitch for years with limited freedom as developers. I'm glad that they've broken off, now we might see some new, interesting franchises
