yeah we were pretty terrible posters back in the day, although given this site has always been full of terrible posters i am not sure it was of much significance. either way, the quality of posting back then was probably higher than it is now, this shit is awful.

as much as we shat on people over petty stuff, as i recall, the majority of it was directed at bad posters. 'bad posters' happens to include, by its nature, the idiotic new members from halomaps or wherever who would post a really bad opinion, get bombed for it, then make some massive long-winded thread about elitism and how the illumirepi were trying to keep a man down. this was explicitly against the site's rules, the rules of the most commonly shitted-up subforum, and also happened regardless of the fact that rep could easily be disabled or just ignored since it is a bunch of glowing bars on the internet.

there was no elitist conspiracy to control the forums, we just had a bit of a giggle dropping bombs on people who made bad posts or had bad opinions, something everyone else would have done had enough of them actually had the sense to organise.

i concede i was a fucking awful poster four or five years ago (shit even four or five months ago), but considering the main bombing targets were people like stealth, linkandkvel, and talkingrain (until he simmered down a bit at which point i began trickling him +rep as encouragement to improve his posting), i really don't see where you're getting that we were some of the worst posters on the site.

edit: also it had nothing to do with being ex-gbx members, although that was mostly how it fell together by chance. it was about bombing bad posters, not bombing non-gbx posters. get your shit straight, son.

edit 2: "strategic rep command" was me and maybe snaf and one or two others, it was largely a joke. in reality there were a number of smaller groups which would occasionally band together for a bombing, but were entirely separate entities. there were a hell of a lot more cliques on the forum back then than you guys seem to realise, and most of them weren't all that close. bombings were a function of someone scouting the offending post/user and posting it where we could all see it, then individuals bombing at will, not any actual group action.
