Add me on Steam as well, http://steamcommunity.com/id/PlasX

I've found myself in a very similar predicament as yourself lately and I feel that I agree 100% with your post. Almost 23, out of college, and I miss the old days of Gearbox, Xfire, H2V, etc. Hell, I feel a lot more alone now when it comes to gaming cause I used to remember my chats blowing up with people wanting to play games / receiving friend requests. Now, I don't get any of that aside from the occasional "Woops didnt mean to send that to you" messages. Feels bro.

Once work projects settle and you're no longer juggling a million things that's when it sunk in for me and I found myself needing to get back into gaming - now that I have set up the foundations for my future I'm suddenly able to enjoy hobbies once again.

Though it may seem unusual for me, I'm 19 years old, have a career that side stepped university in what I can only call tremendous luck. To anyone who remembered I didn't ever bring across how old I was initially because the community doesn't exactly welcome kids. (And in 2005, when I was about 10 that was a given) Though it is one of the reasons I am attached to the community now because I pretty much, from childhood, grew up on the game.

I would have guessed that you are over 23. But hey, it looks like you are having success in life. Good for you.

Career-wise perhaps but everything else is heavy enough that I actually feel alone and require some of the awesome people of this community to help make my hobby worthwhile.

To be honest being as old as I am makes me feel down about the rest of the guys that played halo and have been part of the community this long, we are moving on - and the people I remember are creeping up on their fuckin 30's.. The only thing I have on them is bright-eyed youth.. and again I didn't want age to become a thing initially as it shoots negativity your way as quick as girls announcing they're girls in this scene..

I mean, in my eyes I played this game to death and stayed up late because Halo was my childhood obsession, that was my toy.. That's why I justified spending as much time with it as I have because that's just what kids do with toys. I respected everyone that stuck with this game even in adulthood purely because it shows how much gaming can influence a lifestyle

Of course it was super entertaining when it came to playing among hivers of certain egotistical standards of maturity etc.. even more so when I ended up having the same ip as rec0. Suppose I had trolling down quite early in life
