What are those tubes on the back? That doesnt make sense, why would the SPI armor have such vulnerable extrusions on the armor. In the books, combat is described as if the game is on legendary mode; the mc can take 2-3 plasma bolts and his shield is gone. The SPI has no shielding according to the book, Those tube things seem like they would be a liability. I would like some logical insight behind the purpose of those things. Everything else looks great.
I think the tubes are hooks to put something on, like nades, a gun strap, perhaps to put a bungie cord on. All tons of things you can do if you have a tube on your back. You could even hang garlic on it to keep away vampires.
Hmn, works for me!
Any updates on the armor? I cant wait to see it in SPv2.
We're expecting to get it ingame without the skin tomarow.
the spi armor isnt going to be in Spv2, is it?
It's for the Spartan 3 Allies.
I'm sure that they were making sure that they would have enough tag space since the beginning. The Spartan-IIIs were something that was almost needed in SPv2.
tag space isn't a big issume anymore after (polar bear was it?) worked out a new damage colision thingy system?
Teh lag did it. And we still have issues with it, but not as much for maps with vehicles.
More tagspace? That can only mean good things.
Could it?
Well, even though there's no phantom or spike grenade, it could mean better things for enemies, allies, etc. (hopefully something involving juggernaut flood. If they're not in halo 3 I'll be angry at Bungie for not including them in any of the Halo games.)
i doubt you can kill a juggernaut flood without modding or bungie making it easy to kill.
1. is it tommorow yet?
i'd like to see the SPI armour.
2. did the juggernaught get in?
The videos people put up of inserting the Juggernaut flood into High Charity show they can actually "die." (in truth they can't actually die, since they were never given a death sequence. On all the videos, they just stop where they are when you kill them.) In the "field guide" thread there is no information given on the flood or what custom weapons they may wield. (but there was nothing in any of the Halo manuals about them either.)
It has been for a while now. No pics yet though, we wanna wait for the skin.
which is being done by?
Conscars.
:X
<3
Okay, i heard the skin is done, I WANT PICS NAO! Please:( ?
Err... It's far from done. I never said anything about the S3 skin.
The hand (and the rig) are like that because they are. Deal with it for now, the rig is temporary untill the model gets skinned and LOD'd.
Badass, even though they aren't rigged yet.
ohnice!
what's these guy's AI like?
can they drive hogs for your to gun?
Those look very cool, much better than I expected. Do they use the Spartan animations or the marine ones?
Marine.
*drools with excitement* definite win. Can't wait to see what they're like skinned. And no, I don't think they will be able to drive warthogs for you. (unless you enjoy constantly falling off the edge of the world into oblivion) It's not my call, though.
The head looks a little different. Is this the Mark-II SPI armour? I know we don't know what the Mark-I armour looks like but we know some of the details that were improved upon.
I think it's supposed to be the Mark-II armor, since the Mark-I was already working properly. If I'm wrong, please don't flame me and just tell me, it's been a while since I've read Ghosts of Onyx.
The initial question there was if it was the Mark I or Mark II that CMT used as a guide. The answer: (and I don't know why I didn't think of this before) whichever one was on the cover of the book.
The one on the cover was the Mark II armor.
What the hell are you idiots babbling about? There is no Mark I or Mark II.
There was the Mark V from Halo, the Mark VI from Halo 2, and the SPI. Quite obviously they are making the SPI, as that is the TITLE OF THE THREAD.
Mark II stands for the second version of the SPI aromor (they use the same naming system for the Mojlnir aromor the SII's use).Quote:

There's the Mark I SPI armor (1st version) and the Mark II SPI armor (2nd version).
forget about that, how's the progress on it going???
conscars is like 70% done skinning it. He won't show me pics so I can't tell you how he's doing.
Lookin good :)
If you don't know what you're talking about, you don't have to mask that with crappy spelling.
No, if you care to read three posts up, there quite obviously is not. And what two versions are you referring to, there are three Spartans on the cover: H1, H2, and a Spartan III. SPI is the Spartan III. Usual nubkeix.
Actually, there WERE different versions of SPI armor. Though I'm not entirely sure if they used that particular naming system, Kurt did mention at one point that he wanted to have more time to make upgrades for (either beta or gamma) company's armor system.
Here's a little update guys. I'm going to have to do it all old-school now because my tablet stopped working now that I've installed OEM Vista. I can't find my drivers for the bluetooth. The UV's are restricting progress and things I want to do here and there, but I can work with it.

Abs to die for.

Huhwhat? Your tablet stopped working? What tablet are you using?
graphire bluetooth 6x8
I've got the tablet drivers themselves, it's just that the d-link fags dropped support of my bluetooth adapter and no longer host the drivers on their site.
Pardon my ignorence, but wtf is up with the acid trip appendages?
:D sweet.
Also, HAH now you have to use mouse like me XD
Thats why Con needs to learn to uvw :cop:
Major relief when skinning, when you know how to do it well. If a problem arises, a part of the uvw doesn't suit you, you can just redoe it to your liking. I'm glad I learned :D
Like I've already said, I'll learn to UV better and faster when I have some free time; this summer. If I were to UV it myself, it would have taken much longer anyway. It was best to give it to someone who had more free time than myself. Sure, there were disadvantages, but I can work with these UV's just fine.
oki dokey
and remember, Con, you can ask me anytime abouts teh uvwing when you decide to learn kk =3
Who cares, it looks cool.
isn't that the point of this?
I believe the abdominal muscles i'm referring to would be in that area. I'll check one of those muscle charts...
EDIT: I can't find any with a clear view of the number of abdominal muscles
To bad we banned pooky from CMT forums. He is always looking at mens abbs :X
Mind if i quote that in my sig masterz?
not at all.
I love you, Masters. In a non-Pooky kind of way.
The moment I get ingame I'm going to bump possess and fucking own with that thing.
I don't know, but his contextual use of "fuck" and "meat" must have something to do with "bumping a biped" and ":pervert:"
Hehe. Disastrous slip of the tongue!
Hello all,
I've been recently picked up by CMT and I would like to show my concept idea of the SPI armor. Now, I have only shown a select few this image but I would like you all to see it and give me some of your idea's on what you think the SPI armor looks like (since we are only limited to so much detail on the book cover).
"Click for full image"
Character design inspired by Jean Guillemette.
Welcome! As far as the picture is concerned, it looks like he needs to lay off the twinkies a bit, but when you click on the image, youll see that the unstretched version is better looking. Maybe something more 3-d like a model would give us a better view of the concept you have in mind.
Revord
Top of the helmet appears to bulge out far too much, and the neck is too skinny for a Spartan. The midsection is a bit wide, like he's somewhat fat. Go with the girth of the H2 spartan model (The H1 spartan's midsection is obscured by a utility belt), that's what they look like around the middle. Better yet, use all the proportions of the H2 spartan, but give him the SPI armor. After all, it is only different armor. The spartan-IIIs may differ a bit, but I suspect not by much.
Also, I see no need for the "biohazard" symbol on the "belt" area.
I hope that you clicked to make the image bigger. But this is just a concept of the SPI armor. When he is modeled he will come out as the same proportions as the Master Chief. Also, I havn't read the books so I do not know if there is a clear cut discription but since you can only see so much of his armor on the cover you bassically have to wing the rest. As for the Biohazard symbol I took the Idea off of the Halo Wars spartan model - plus i like the symbol.
Edit: Wasn't there a post that was after Explosives?
I did, but it still looks a little chunky.
Could be, but they may have deleted it. However, the email I got, which includes a transcript of the very next post after mine, had your post in it, so I don't think anyone posted directly after me. Unless there's something about the notification system I don't understand :/
head looks way off
starting to look like an alien himself in there, doesn't he?....needs work, nice drawing skills though.
I posted after him.
I posted it in the first place pretty much just because I was entranced by the fact that it was actually a good drawing, but after going back to Rahil's DeviantArt, Bryn Casey's painting, Wave of Lag's old model, Jean Guilermette's CG rendition, CMT's work so far, and especially the original cover scan, I realized how much work it actually needed and how many details were off; details I didn't feel like running through at 2:00 AM.
Therefore, the post as a whole didn't work for me. But I will leave you with this: go back to the legs and feet and keep going until they're perfect.
Post Scriptum: How are your H2 maps coming along?
Why the hell would the creatores of the spartan suit make a thin cloth like part thin enough to show the users abbs that don't even look real, and why does the glass of the helmet have to extend that far back whats the point unless he has eyes on the side of his head?
If you want to make the spartan cool looking why not just add a big chainsaw/minigun and a jet pack?
Did you ever read, or even look at Halo:Ghosts of Onyx?
Sorry, I misread your post. I thought you said that CMT was making the suit look bad and not the creators.
actually you read my post right, since I didn't read Ghosts of Onyx I didn't know if it was an orginal idea from cmt or taken from some where els.
Now that Iv sean the Ghosts of Onyx cover I retract my comment about the helmet and replace it with a comment on how the helmet doesn't look like the one in the ghosts of Onyx cover witch am guessing cmt is copying.
