I was playing around in max, and I came across a model I made a while back, and realized the way I had done it it wouldn't be too hard to seal it off, blow it up, and turn it inside-out to make a nifty bsp. So I did (I just tossed some generic tiled textures on it)

Shouldn't be too hard to figure out what this was before I blew it up (10,000% original size) and turned it inside out- look at the middle of the 3rd pic for a dead give away.
But I like it so much, I may just tidy it up a bit, apply some nice textures, and put it ingame as a real mp map.

I thought HCE could take up to 5-6K triangles for FP weapons (pushing it) =/. After optimizations my gun should be better. I hope =P.
Not sure what I'm going to do with it exactly. I could replace the horribly inaccurate MP7 in Half Life 2 with it just for shits and giggles. Or I could throw it onto turbosquid and make $5 a year off of it.
Next gun im going to work on after this is either the UMP or the G36(maybe the commando variant. I seem to have some strange fetish for SMGs/PDWs as of late).

Still working on some stuff. I also need to add a screw or 2 here or there (I could texture em' on but in this case the screws extend out a bit so it would look better if I modeled it in). I'm also going to make the extended clip later too, as well as a holosite or something.

um...no what in the fuck does poly by poly modeling mean? plane modeling is correct. and no it does not need less tris, 6,000 should probably be your max.

killa, as ross pointed out, proportions are way off. as well as accuracy.
try to find some better ref pics online, you're probably better off starting over. i'm not sure what you searched for but try using Browning M2 or Browning M2HB

i said drop it, but since you persist, that is NOT plane modeling, plane modeling is when the modeler uses a plane to hold a reference image and create the model to the image on the plane. not using planes to model.
give me a link to two tutorials that state the method there using is plane modeling and ill shut the fuck up.

Some custom colt I made today in a couple hours. Didn't feel like jumping into the machine gun yet, but kinda felt like modelling a pistol. Too bad I'm going away tomorrow, won't be able to finish it for another week. I like where it's going so far. 1348 tris so far, aiming for about 1500-2000ish when it's done. Keep in mind it's not accurate to any particular colt, just sort of taking what I know about them and making my own. If you don't like the boxy top, too bad, I love it. :)

Finished all the textures dedicated to my sister. I'm not going to explain what they all mean. If you look real hard at them, and are smart, you'll see.

Dano, I love it. But why is there a Marathon symbol in the center of the top? That's usually associated with the UNSC, and only appears (in forerunner architecture) on the Halo intro logo.

^ I dunno, I just did a placeholder thing there. The actual whole top of the strucure, even though it has a tiled texture, I'm going to unwrap and skin, so it's not a tile. It'll be a big fairly complex sort of thing. This map, It's meant to show off my texturing and skinning abilitys. So yeah, there won't really be complex meshes, even though I'd like to, I suck, so I'm just going to make up for it and go all out with texturing.
Also, the structure is hollow, but it will lead down to an underground cavern, wich is also accesable by side tunnels at the base sides of the map and a single teleporter on the structure. I haven't started the underground yet, though.
The middle structure will contain a good vantage point for the whole level, and the power weapon. It is also where KOTH will happen in my map. The hill will be the middle octagon, and the spawns will be around the edges. Bloodbath ftw!
also Snaver, haha you noticed too :P I dunno what I did to make the bumps go like that. Was it cuz I duplicated the pillars?

There's also a small interior part, but clay rendering is being a bitch and turns out horribly inside.
And 50 ca... cal.. 50 whatever. That's not the nicest model ever, but you seem to know how to do the basics. As smash said, more practice in the right techniques will lead to better modeling.

I really dont like how plain all the walkways are. Yea, its sweet how you did it, but if the walkways each looked different, or had some variation to them, it would be cooler. They are just kinda plain being all the same width.

Plexiglass layering and height testing with sensors.
NEEEEEOOOONNNZZZZ. Testing my light circuit.
Darking ambient lighting.
Neons activated with decals sitting on top. Note that they will be more evenly lit with the plexiglass raising them up (See the closest blue). They will light when stepped on, this was just testing the lights in general, so I wanted them all on)
Just waiting on the corner brackets to hold in the plexiglass to make this complete. They're 2x2 inches and go in the corner of each "square" that there is plexi in. Note that ALL visible wood will be covered in sheet metal when completed.
