Holy fuck that's a detailed video. I was pumped for this game since last year.
I'll probably never play it or buy it but it looks pretty fuckin awesome. Video was really well done too.
red dead revolver was good this will be too
You may think a member of the opposite sex is smoking, but would you settle down with each and every one of said smoking hot member?
Something can be pleasing to the eye but not the entertainment factor
uhh this game looks terrible
stupid casuals supporting bad games
This looks really cool, but I hope it isn't just "run from point a to point b and kill these guys" missions.
Looks cool so far, but I have no idea if I will get it. It kind-of makes me think of assassin's creed.
GTA IV in the wild west? Sold
Per usual, I'll check out reviews before making a purchase, but this looks like it could be good. Very good.
All things considered, Redemption has the potential to be fantastic. I definitely believe in the GTA IV engine and its ability to provide some decent graphics and physics, and I'm one of the few that honestly enjoyed GTA IV, too. As long as it isn't exactly GTA with horses and old guns I think it could be great. Will keep an eye on it.
Bump, this game is amazing. Anyone else try it yet?
Nope, but I want to buy it more than any GTA game!
Game looks awesome, I'm totally getting it, looks like GTA but WAY improved graphics, models, animations etc, it uses RAGE engine and they've mastered it :)
Gotta buy it next week, cuz doesnt come out till 21st here but I'm busy partying it up over weekend.
it's not coming out for PC.
I thought it was.

It's pretty good so far, haven't tried out multiplayer yet though.
Im excited for it, i just need the money...
Ordered a copy today. Watched some video reviews and it sounds like something that could keep me entertained for more than long enough to justify the expenditure. Only sucky part is living in a small town where you have to specifically order it and wait for a week 'cause it isn't in stores. Other sucky part is it'll probably arrive before my PS3 does :(
I bought myself a copy just the other day, game is awesome so far. I was on my way to a different town to do a mission and I see someone out in the middle of nowhere who told me he was stranded and needed a lift back to town. When I got too close to him pulled me off my horse and tried to take off with it, but I shot him in the head. Good times. :neckbeard:
Best.
Game.
Ever.
Just beat it, I can honestly say it was the most enjoyable gaming experience I've had in awhile. The game has it's glitches, but overall it's an amazing experience and an achievement on it's own.
Don't open below if you don't want to be spoiled.
The voice acting, music, animations, environment, and character development in this game is great. If you don't have it you're missing out on something awesome.
I love hog tying people from random towns and dropping them on train tracks, or feeding them to bears, great fun.
Also, posting this from my iPhone!
Alright I've heard good things about this game and I think I'm gonna get it, but I wanna know: What sort of replay value does it have? Is it similar to GTA in that you can still have fun messing around after you beat it, and is the multplayer good?
Worth the 60 bucks or just rent it?
Mutliplayer is spectacular.
VERY worth the 60 bucks, if not just for posse-ing up with friends and doing shit. The singleplayer is very enjoyable, too. There's a definite "darkness" about some of the missions(Flowers for the Lady for example). I haven't gotten very far myself but this definitely is gonna be a relatively quick run through, opposed to my long and drawn out runs through the GTA series.
Is that a person in the friggin' air?
Yes.
I'd seen cougarman, but not donkeywoman.
wish it was on PC, because it looks incredibly fun.
I've been playing this game, and I love it so far. Best old west game I've ever played. Also, best horses in a game I've ever seen. Surprisingly, with the exception of a few spawning glitches, I haven't seen any real problems so far. I might see a wagon pop into existence on the horizon, but that's about it.
I just finished the game, holy shit I did not see that ending coming, bravo Rockstar for finishing it was sheer excellence.
Anyone up for some Xbox multiplayer sometime?
Hopefully getting this today, as its my birthday, but I haven't seen it in stores in the last few days so hopefully my parents were able to find a copy.
awesome game for awesome people
that is all
Theres an achievement for hogtying a woman and putting them on the traintracks and watching them die
:3
okay, so on a one to five star rating scale, rate the following categories for the game:
Fun, Gameplay, Story, and Humor.
Fun- 5
Gameplay- 5
Story- so far, 5
Humor- typical Rockstar humor- so anywhere from totally serious to completely whacky- judge that as you will
I'm loving this game.
Who here has got the REAL ending?
Hint: Search around Blackwater.
Okay, that's it- any hints, or discussions, put in spoilers. Nothing's been revealed, but it's getting in that direction. And DON'T PUT SPOILERS INITIALLY. It may have been fixed, but in email notifications spoilers don't exist, so you can see everything. Post, then edit in the spoilers so they don't show up. Lol.
Or I could just stay out of this thread until I finish the game. :downs: Would probably be easier.
Free Roam is just full of spawn killers.
I wouldn't say the game is that glitchy. Sure, weird stuff happens every now and then, but I personally haven't seen half the stuff in those videos.
just picked up this game today. will post back on details in a while
So who liked Rockstars movie? I thought it was pretty cool and a great way to get advertising in. Also gives a few new angles for storyline bits. Warning, you may get spoilered if you watch it.
This game does sure look amusing.
Pfft thats multiplayer, bears are MUCH harder in single player.
So I just finished the game. And it was not only an incredible ending, but overall one of, if not the best game I have ever played. Rockstar outdid itself on this one.
I knew about it but have yet to watch it. Looked for a youtube vid the first day but I was surprised when there wasn't.
IMO, the short was kind of pointless if you already played the game. For the people who haven't but were thinking about buying it, the film was probably a very effective way of persuading them into getting the game. The only thing I didn't really enjoy about it, was how rushed it felt - I realize they had a lot to put into a 22-minute segment though. Also, one thing that really bugged me was the fact that they portrayed Seth finding his treasure at Fort Mercer. It just seemed wrong considering the environment differed greatly between the fort and Tumbleweed.
so iv been playing this game nonstop, and i love it. the attention to detail is pretty incredible imo, for example when it rains the road fills up with puddles. at one point i actually watched a black smith pull a red hot horse shoe out of a fire, bang it with his hammer a few times, the drop it in a bucket of water. there was a steam effect and sound, and when he removed the horseshoe it wasnt red hot anymore. then he put another horseshoe in the fire and walked to the saloon fr a drink while it heated up. i was impressed.
as far as gameplay goes, this may just be my controller with its sticky sticks (i know), but sometimes the cover in combat doesnt work correctly. for example ill take cover behind a rock, then my guy will start walking circles around the rock. thats probably just my controller, but trying to counter-act the way the analog stick likes to stick up a bit causes me to walk back and forth while being shot at.
another thing that i can actually blame on the game is clunky controls in some areas. i mean all in all, the controls are a tiny bit awkward to get used to (x is jump, repeatedly tap a for sprint), but you get used to that. my main complaint at the moment is the weapon selection system. bear in mind that i play on a 360. for me, if i hold down the left bumper, i get a weapon menu overlay that shows up in real time which allows you so select a weapon. its not as easy as it sounds though. let me explain how complicated this is:
Press Lb to bring up wheel (keeping in mind that everything is still happening including combat, and you can still walk around with the left analog stick)
while holding Lb, use the right analog stick to select a weapon from the overlay wheel
now normally this would get you your weapon, but in the heat of combat it confuses me. its gotten me killed twice now
to make matters even more confusing, if i want to switch to a different weapon of the same type (since you seem to hold all of your weapons on you at the same time) i have to do everything above, and while holding Rb and the right stick in place, i have to use the Dpad to move left and right to select my new weapon. remember that this is all in real time, so if youre getting shot at you better be fast.
just now while playing (yes i was irritated enough to pause the game and post) some guy was trying to kidnap this woman. so the first thing i did was punch the guy. as im beating up on him, he pulls a gun on me and starts shooting me. at this point i was like "SHIT SHIT" because when you die you go back to your last hard save (apparently autosaves dont count) and i furiously mashed down Lb and pressed the right stick to the right to select my shotgun. i released Lb to close the select overlay, and pressed Left trigger to aim my shotgun so i could blow this guy's brains out. well instead of pulling the shotgun out and sighting in like he should, my guy didly-fucked around for a second, finally pulling the shotgun out as the killing bullet hit me and i dropped dead. i was irritated to reappear at the last place i had slept, especially seeing as i had JUST partaken in a game of "who can stab the table with a knife and not lose a finger", and saw the autosave icon in the corner as i left the table.
apart from that issue with the weapon selection (which again, as confusing as it may be, is only made worse by weird ass controller and my tendency to freak out at the first sign of danger), the game has been absolutely incredible so far. definitely play this game.
Autosaves save game data. Hard saves save data and location. If it autosaves, and then you die, you respawn at your last hard save location, but with the autosave data. Also, if you are killed in a sidequest, it respawns you, not at the hostpital, like in GTA, but at your last hard save. This means that the quest is still out there, and you don't have to go back to the last save to try to find it again. I only realized this near the end of the game, when I kept spawning in a room a few hundred yards from the quest, and I was able to just walk out and try it again. IN GTA, the quest opportunity would be lost unless you reloaded the last autosave or hard save.
As for the weapon selection, once I got used to it I liked it a lot. I rarely switch weapon types mid-fight- I select the model of each type I want before I get into a fight, and that way even if I want to switch types I don't have to mess with the gun models, only the broad selections.
well as i was saying, the times i got killed were times when i was caught off guard. i mean one time i was walking around and heard a yell, turned around, and there was a pack of coyotes right behind me that killed me. that wasnt really the weapon selection's fault, but things like that catch me off guard and lead to me getting killed.
despite what i said before, i DO like how the weapons are laid out, its just frustrating to have to switch mid battle because i tend to panic. im talking about situations like trying to lasso a guy who suddenly pulls a gun on you. its a bit difficult to switch, especially when the game delays the weapon take out.
and that thing about the saves i was talking about before, i realized i left something out about 30 seconds after i closed my browser window. thanks for the clarification on the saves
They spent millions advertising the game, they spent alot advertising this movie thing.
I have to say they did not do a good job advertising it then because I only found out about it in this thread.
i originally wasnt going to get this game, but after having to watch the same fucking commercial before every AVGN video on screw attack, it started to grow on me.
THAT right there is effective advertising.
Love this game, though I'm not far into the story because most of my time has been spent dicking around and letting my friends play with cheats on instead of doing missions. The game is really glitchy though, some are funny but sometimes its just annoying.
I agree with donut about weapon selector, i guess its something you have to work at so you can switch really fast. In my opinion the game should pause for a second while you choose, like I've seen in a few other games (though obviously not in multiplayer).
Having cars and possibly planes would be cool, possibly added in through DLC (though i haven't beaten it yet so if there could be for all I know.) I really hope this comes out for PC though and modding is possible. I'd love to see someone put some GTA4 content in there (they both use the RAGE engine). Can you imagine how much fun it would be to ride dirtbikes on that terrain while shooting in dead eye? Though I am talking completely out of my ass right now, one can only hope.
E: 2000th post woohoo....err yeah.
Um, you can pause the game and change weapons, hense the weapons option on the menu.
Bump.
new FREE dlc is out. Playing it now.
Let's get a posse started.
GT: DEEhunter1
Just beat the game.
Cool stuff.
