This one looks like it has hope but after Modern warfare 2, I'm skeptical.
Wow being released this year?
Fucking christ they pump out these cod games don't they.
Take a hint from Team Fortress, don't oversaturate the market with multiple versions of the same thing, it'll make people feel like they're over it before they even play it. Just the one good one will do for at least a while. Otherwise you split your multiplayer base up.
Though valve did kinda fuck the l4d multiplayer community in the exact same way.
:\
I don't think they'll add a Warthog in black ops (or any vehicles for that matter) so I'll be sticking to Reach...reach...reach
When are they going to start adding new features to this engine instead of new campaigns? Or maybe they'll have real dedicated server support this time around heh. TBH, I think they'd be better off doing this kind of stuff as expansion packs.
Looks like another game that will over-promise and under-deliver.
Kinda bad poll, no 'maybe'. I mean it IS just a teaser
Even though Treyarch is better at making CoDs I'm sticking with Reach.
I just hope you guys know after this, the very NEXT year cod 8 is coming out..like sirius said, they will pump out cod games every year, gives my grandparents something to buy me something for my birthday since November is my birthday month. And there is always a cod game around my bday so I don't waste my money :realsmug: then again getting cod games for my bday since 05 is boring.
E:
Treyarch did in cod5 make vehicles drivable and cod3 too. Pretty sure they might add vehicles, cause it makes it a lot better and they done it with all the cod games they did.
Ah, well I've only been spoiled by the MW games so I wouldn't know about the stuff Treyarch has done with the engine. So you could use the vehicles in MP? Or was it just campaign?
World at War let you use them in multiplayer.
That's significantly more than MW or MW2 let you use. :haw:
But yeah. To be honest though, I never considered CoD to be much of a drivable vehicle type game.
This. Death come so easily in those games, I can only imagine that vehicles would be impossible to balance. Is it possible to shoot down helicopters and planes brought in by kill-streaks? Yes. But put human operators behind their movements and targeting, and it could be a total suppression machine that would cause nothing but frustration.
I have a feeling they'll do much better with this one, seeing as WaW wasn't terrible but people didn't like how it just seemed like an uber mod of CoD4.
Then again, looking at the teaser...seems very much MW2-ish in terms of how it plays out. Seems like too much action, even if its purpose is to hype you up.
Didn't read too much but I prefer no vehicles actually, and I heard this one has dedis? Either way treyarch's call of duty games never interested me, we'll see.
That's pretty interesting, it reminds me of the BC games. I wonder if they're going towards the direction of bigger maps and vehicles now.
I'm just not supporting the CoD series anymore.
I'm not even going to bother watching the teaser.
The Call of Duty series is to diluted now, I've replaced it with Medal of Honor. I'm playing Halo Reach though.
Unfortunately, Bad Company seems to be getting more like Call of Duty. Compared to the first game, the new one is so much more restrictive. It has regenerating health, very linear levels, and no radio (this is very important! :maddowns:). Also, the tools are gone.
Yeah but you can easily take those out. (yeah, I DO take out AC130's)
ill put ti simple.
FUCK CALL OF DUTY!
WOULDNT TOUCH WITH A STICK!
Should have been an option, 'I'll stick with CoD 4'. Not interested in this even slightly.
Bawww just play your halo reach. That's how companys will work, what ever can bring in the mostplayersmoney while throwing out map packs that cost $10 then they are good. Well to them not us. Point is if you do something for console people PC people will bitch and want it. So you choose how to spend your money.
Yeah, supply and demand. Just like there is a community's worth of more-so hardcore gamers like us who view this as saturation, there is just as much casual who just play games after they get home from a shitty day, a shitty job, or a shitty life and will play the next new thing that's out because it's new and a distraction. They don't get stuck up in the details and drama, they just play the game.
But I don't equip tubes or launchers zzzzzzzz
but light vehicles would justify the existence of such launchers. Because right now, lol.
The point I'm trying to get across is that vehicles that can be accessed whenever ready would be less effective than actual controllable killstreak air support. With killstreak air support you don't have to control anything but the gun, the game does the flying which keeps you focused on killing. The only air support that is actually hard to shoot down is an AC130, and it's not like that would be a whenever ready vehicle. Most often when you get air support in MW2, especially on domination, it gets shot down fairly quickly. With whenever ready vehicles being harder to control, and just is easy to shoot down, I doubt they would be much of a problem.
So I'm going out on a limb here and saying that controllable killstreak air support gets you way more kills then whenever ready vehicles, therefore being more annoying/more of a hassle.
Besides, AC130s are slow. It wouldn't matter.
Safe to say more people on modacity will be playing Halo Reach in Fall 10 then CoD: BO. Or unless Treyarch manages somehow to make a good game play video and such. Thou I will probably rent cod instead of letting my grandparents get me it for my b-day. Depends on what they can show more in a real video.
Hmm... what does Modern Warfare + Vehicles (+ destruction) equal?
I went to frys the other day, and a dude walked up to me and asked which he should buy, modern warfare 2 or bad company 2. I laid out the facts in front of him. He thanked me and walked away with bad company 2, as well as bioshock 2, which I also sold him on.
his name was tree
Dear Treyarch, get your own franchise and stop mooching of the ideas of other developers. Thank you. owait, I forgot you fail at being a development company so this is your only way to make money.
Hey guys. Everyone is complaining about martydoom and Greanade Lawnchairs in CoD4. WE SHOULD PUT THEM IN WORLD AT WAR. IT'S A GOOD IDEA.
I'll bet you anything that there will be a new perk that allows you to hold 5 guns at once and reload them by spinning them around your fingers.
World at War had a decent campaign, which I actually enjoyed, but I can't say the same for the mutliplayer. I hope they learn from IW's mistakes in multiplayer, but I have a big feeling they won't. Just imagine if they come out with a system similar to IW Net?
I any case, MoH's campaign looks interesting.
IWNet isn't that bad..it's ok how you get put in a game of your choosing with friends being on the same team at the start of a game instead of joining some half full dedi server with the game almost over. It would be a very viable system if they had official dedis set up for games instead of peer to peer.
It actually is that bad. It matches you with hackers and people at the opposite end of the skill spectrum. IT ALLOWS HACKERS TO SEND YOU VIRUSES! It has to stop an entire game just to migrate to another host, often for 5 mins at a time, but then just crashes to the lobby. On top of that, the lag is just disgusting. Dedicated servers are no doubt the best option for online gaming. So what if you have to wait a couple of mins until the next round starts? I thought that was the point of jumping into the action right away. And who says you have to join a half full server? You can join a server that has any amount of people in it and you can still play with your friends. Also, dedicated servers can handle a lot more people and not be limited to a ridiculously low amount of people because the match making system can't keep up with it.
My biggest problem with the piece of shit is me rage quiting a game, then searching for a new one in the same playlist (like Domination since my team is always trying to play TDM >_> ).
What happens? The fucker puts me back in the same server I just quit from. I mean it's not like I instantly try to search again, but you think it would have some sense to find a new game, out of a couple thousand people playing a few hundred games. Honestly, no excuse.
I don't understand this host migration thing. Do games over Xbox Live get hosted on one of the player's Xboxes or something? If so, why the fuck are we paying $4 a month for multiplayer we should have when we are the ones hosting the goddamn games?
Most Xbox games are hosted on someones console, you're just paying for the matchmaking servers and such.
Oh wow, that's a load of crap...some of us don't even WANT the matchmaking services and would rather just browse a list of games...
PS3 does not have and never will have Halo games. Only one of my console-playing friends has a PS3. I also don't pay $4 a month for Live, I got the one month card from a friend for my birthday a year ago.
Obviously PC is better then consoles, but excluding PC I think PS3 is better then Xbox. Just because Xbox has the new Halo games doesn't mean Xbox is any better then PS3.
Well, it's subjective of course, but I think the 360 has the superior library. PS3 has: MGS4 (eh), Killzone 2, Uncharted 1 and 2, and Resistance 2. Those are the only games I would think about buying a PS3 for.
^all of those +god of war 3 just because i loved the first 2. other than that ill stick to my 360.
for future argument's sake, what exclusives besides gears and halo does the xbox have?
I honestly can't remember them off the top of my head. I don't even own most of them. For me, you might say the "360 exclusives" are all the original XBOX exclusives, because I have plenty of those and still enjoy them, even if I prefer to play them on their native console most of the time.
I don't think the console war debate was meant for this thread. Just saying.
If they include mods or a mode with no unlock-ables , dual-wields, no LMGs or scopes, no nade launcher, no death streak help, something like cod4 promod or PAM, maybe. The kill streak rewards in mw2 are just unfair and shitty, they aim way to well and constantly spawn camp easily getting 8-10 kills in about 2 min.
Stop going off topic or I will lock this. (stick with cod bo)
Or better yet soon since this topic has already pointed out Reach will be played around the same time as CoD. Unless they release a new video like tomorrow with gameplay...
True true.Mmmm I will lock this threadUNTIL they release a new video with actual game play sometime since this thread for now has served its purpose and has pointed out something in the polls.
And this is an uncut version.
http://kotaku.com/5539321/call-of-du...icated-servers
There is a chance CoD7 will get Dedi servers.
I acutely wanna see FP legs instead of looking down there just to see there is no legs and they only show during special scenes.
I want to see the CoD series finally stop, but apparently most people are still gullible enough to think any future games (let alone Treyarch ones) will be anything other than horrible
When I heard Black Ops, I imagined something different. The trailer doesn't look like the game puts any emphasis on anything besides what we're used to.
while we're on the topic about why the series needs to fuck off
has anyone else noticed the characters getting more and more whack proportionally with each passing title? in the first two, their legs were a bit stumpy; by mw2, they were sporting retardedly fat plate carriers and still had short legs, but at least still resembled humans. i see waw models being ported to source and have to double-take. not only are their legs even shorter still, their hands are twice the size they should be, their entire torsos are about two-thirds normal width (if that), and they have giraffe necks. the weapons are even more disturbing, it's like these people don't even bother researching or looking at refs. i understand some artistic license, but are you fucking serious?
has nobody at iw or particularly treyarch ever seen a real human being before?
Hey, at least they got a bit better at animations. The 3P animations in Cod 1 were seriously fucking silly looking.
That said, I think that Cod people are a different species from baseline humans. It would explain not only their bizarre proportions, but also their ability to fire a .50AE desert eagle at 900 rpm without their wrists snapping and their hands flying off.
Ugh, this new trailer looks like a fucking action movie...oh gee, where have we just seen this before?
They're a lot less obnoxious since the firecap nerf, but still annoying.
Don't know about you guys but that latest trailer made me think of Bad Company 2 more than Call of Duty...
It does seem like Bad Company 2, graphics did look really good, from what you can see from the stupidly fast clips...
If they don't add any new features such as a bit more interactivity with the environment - which in my opinion should be something they develop in games now, everything else ahs been done and is getting old - then I am going to rape them.
All they seem to do most of the time is make a new campaign and stick some new weapons in it :/ They need to do something good with the engine and add new features. I actually think they should make it a bit like Bad Company, so add vehicles, as long as they are not over powered... And DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENT!!!
Treyarch did add tanks in cod waw, so I would think they would add some type of vehicle in black ops.
Wait, the same people who made WaW are making this one?
Its going to fail... massivly, again.
Over the rainbow?
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/03/no...-ops-campaign/
And treyarch did do co-op before for waw but not this time, meh. And zombies? Again the only reason why people will buy CoD:BO is for zombies and they will talk non-stop about it, I know it, just like WaW.Quote:
Though Call of Duty: Black Ops' Cold War setting is a new feature for the series, one element of the game will stay true to the franchise's norms: the game's campaign will only be a single-player experience. Speaking to MTV, Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia explained, "single-player is the epic, cinematic, seat-of-your-pants thrill ride that you star in," while the game's cooperative offerings will be packaged in completely separate "unique co-op modes."
Sounds fairly reminiscent of Modern Warfare 2's Spec Ops missions, though Lamia quickly clarified that Black Ops' co-op mode will be "different" from that of the last game in the series. Could we possibly see more zombies added to the mix? Hopefully, we'll find out more when we check out the game at E3.

Fuck this shit.
Were you REALLY expecting Black Ops to be anything other than Modern Warfare in a different time period? MW1 and 2 are two of the most popular shooters to ever exist and both have extremely solid gameplay. Changing it up would have been an idiotic move on the part of the developers and on Activision. They know what the fans want.
No, I wasn't, but I just want to point out all the same shit anyway and hope more people notice and stop buying this same shit over and over.
Because I've already bought it 3 times, fuck me.
*Edit: Also, lol at the ballistic knife. He shot it off, then stabbed a guy before putting in another knife (but the model showed a knife being in it).
truthfully, I won't be playing this or reach ( no Xbox but I probably wouldnt get it anyway not that i don't like Halo, I just think its megaly over hyped) I will be playing New vegas and probably Lost planet 2 pc if it releases in september ( I think it was september?) and some random Indie games.
CoD has been hyped to the point where it should only appeal to elementary school kids. With its basic story to its fuck all assisted shooting. I normally would abck up treyarch and say that WaW wasnt a huge mess but after seeing the multiplayer and gameplay I just shook my head in dissapointment.
Wait a minute....3 kill streak gets you a rover drone...that explodes....
oh great, a "theatre" mode. i suppose now i can actually figure out what the fuck killed me.
seriously though, a theatre mode is a nice feature to see. there have been a few plays on my part that have kicked ass, and a few times i would have liked to see how somebody did something, or where everybody was camping. the knife makes me laugh. its like a throwing knife, except now with this one you dont even have to worry about gravity or lead.
but oh my god fuck me, youtube will be full of even MORE "look how pro i am i play on 10 sensitivity and spin in circles in online public matches firing blankly with my bolt action rifle getting lucky kills that i pass off as skill even though its just cod's ridiculous autoaim" videos. but the trade-off there is being able to save the film of your team mate in search and destroy coming across the last enemy player (who is afk) and attempts a 360 noscope snipe 8 times unsuccessfully and uploading it as a video response to the inevitable montage that the player will later upload. can you tell i dont like those kids? lol.
but yeah, all in all, theatre mode looks kind of cool.
E: and GOD DAMNIT give me a playlist that disables killstreaks. what the fuck, is it really that much to ask for? and another issue in these games since cod4 is the ability to look over walls. the way your first person camera and gun are situated, in 3p the bullets basically come out of the top of your head. so you can be hiding behind a wall, or have a bit of a height advantage, and you can shoot somebody who cant even see you. that is so disgustingly fucked up that they havent fucking fixed that in 3 games. i guarantee you they wont fix it in this one either.
It's a ballistic knife, belongs to the Spetsnaz (so of course, it fits well into the game). If you noticed, like I said, he shot it off, stabbed a guy where the knife just fucking reappeared, then put in a new knife.
Showing errors/bugs in your own game in the fucking MP Trailer. Way to go.
*Edit: Also there is a playlist on MW2 with no killstreaks. It's called Barebones.
I don't get why the last two poll options are there.
Wouldn't that fall under "won't buy"?
Some of those weapons seem really unique. I haven't missed a single COD game so far (except for some expansions), so I'll be buying.
actually alteriwnet has a mode called "global thermo nuclear war" and kill streaks are disabled; apparently it was supposed to be in game but got removed for some reason. Probably for being to fun.
yeah i remember people inviting me to global thermonuclear war lobbies on xbl. they all wanted 1600 ms points for it though, and thats like 20 bucks. fuck that shit and fuck their shit. it did look fun though.
and is that barebones playlist on xbl? i havent put mw2 into my xbox for over 3 months now. i figure im on summer break and i dont feel like being in a fowl mood :v:
E: odx i saw the knife in the video. what im saying is that the throwing knife in mw2 at least required the skill to lead the knife in order to hit your target. now theyve taken that concept and gotten rid of the skill element essentially making the knife just as easy to use as bullets
thats another thing that bothers me. in cod4, weapons almost took skill to use. ALMOST (im looking at you m16 and m40a3 acog whores). weapons like the ak47 were difficult to use at range because there was noticeable visual recoil that made tracking your target difficult. the m14 is another example. it is animated so its firing animation causes the weapon to move off target, making it significantly more difficult to aim with than, say, the g3 or g36c. by choosing a more powerful weapon like the ak47, you suffer diminished ability to engage targets that are further away, whereas with the g36c, you can fire very accurately but do alot less damage.
mw2 takes this formula and removes the recoil. the two guns i use the most frequently in mw2 are the tar21 and the fal. like the m14, the fal is semiautomatic, and thus does more damage at the cost of firing speed and having to pull the trigger "manually" for each shot. UNlike the m14, the fal has almost no visual recoil, and therefore i can engage targets further away firing as fast as i please. id also like to mention how mw2 does NOT have a firing cap (at least that im capable of reaching). much like the ak47, the tar21 advertises an automatic rate of fire and very high damage (arguably the most powerful assault rifle in the game) at the cost of accuracy at range. in theory, the stats reflect this. in practice, because of the lack of recoil, the tar21 can hit people just as far away and just as accurately as the fal. thus i ask, what is the point of a highly accurate but less damaging gun like the acr?
tl:dr, as cods move on, they become easier and easier to play, taking more and more skill elements out. what it really has come down to is knowing where to be at what time, and camping. thats it. its fucking bullshit.
RC hotwheels with a bomb!
rook what im asking is if its on xbl too. i figure it would be, but who knows given iw's reputation.
