    Dane, maybe someone (you?) could re-texture the ground to be more like the beach in this pic: http://www.bungie.net/images/News/In...ronment-08.jpg

    Im not sure if its a beefed-up normal map or if its the actual texture causing those shadows, but im sure you could make it look good, right?

    Don't forget, these are still the beta builds that the pictures are coming from. However, the sand texture looks very similar to the texture of the rocks, it's hard to tell the difference. And also, I think they're trying to go for a "battle-scarred" look with some of the textures. If that's the case, that last one looks great. (the one of the first structure you find in the a50 level.)

    refferring to halokings post, that is exactly how the sand should be in my opinion. as for elrich, think about it, how battlescarred could halo possibly be? its been void of animal life for how many thousands of years?

    Halo has not been devoide of life at all. Indiginous species are still on halo, along with the flood. And as you've said, they are thousands of years old, so the structures will still erode under weather. The buildings won't be battlescarred, but they will be scarred. personally, I don't know why there's all this fuss. I think both levels look great.

    The "sand" textures make me want to throw up. Also, about that building:

    Make the sand look more like Last Resort, and use textures similar to Delta Halo so people don't choke on their own vomit.
    Assault Rifle looks nice, though.

    I remember someone posting this like a year ago, but at the time you didn't know how to get it to apply the needles only when the melee made contact. After more experience with tagging weapons in CE, would you say that you would be able to accomplish this at this point?

    When I said "battle scarred," I meant that they might show a few signs (though not many, because they would have been eroded as Delta said) of the Forerunners'
    battle(s) with the Flood after they broke loose. After all, the building could be either the security structure or the map room. If it's the security structure, they may have been attempting to lock the Flood in the map room and then contain the amount that were still outside.
