Guys I really don't think any single element from spv1 is still alive in this new mod without severe changes. The assault rifle's animations are completely redone, and trust me it has a fast melee.

The spv1 AR melee was hard to get used to at first, but once you figured out the timing of it it was an amazing tool. Strips normal elite shields in one hit, shoot a couple rounds into 'em and they're dead!

yeah, it was nice and all that the over the head and down on the back melee was implemented in SP v1, but it forced me to give up on smacking things around with the AR.

I'd swap weapons just to melee.

I had it down fast.

I use left Shift with my pinky to melee. It`s faster and easier to press than scrambling over the keyboard to hit F when I could just use shift to stay in the battle and not compromise my ability to press wasd keys.

Or you could use your thumb mouse button like me and not have to move off WASD at all.
