Or you could use your thumb mouse button like me and not have to move off WASD at all.

I use my thumb button to zoom in. I use the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000. It has a tilt-wheel periwinkle which makes it very hard to click down quickly in the heat of a battle/duel. No detents either

I use left Shift with my pinky to melee. It`s faster and easier to press than scrambling over the keyboard to hit F when I could just use shift to stay in the battle and not compromise my ability to press wasd keys.

I use side mouse to melee, Left Shift to crouch (and also to aimbot) and X for flashlight my controls are da best hurr (also use Q to switch weapons and C to check score)
