I don't think Eric Nylund cares about flexibility. He wanted to write about female Spartans and thus there were female Spartans. Anything in science fiction can be explained away with some bullshit reason or another. But every one of us has a line for what we'll accept and what we'll reject. I posted what I posted knowing full well that it could be misconstrued as misogyny by a certain class of intellect. But I posted it anyway thinking that, a) people here have common sense enough to see the point I was trying to make, and b) I'd get the slightest benefit of the doubt and the smallest shred of respect around here. Wrong on both counts, I guess.
