If the magazine capacity has to be an odd number, it's usually something with a 5. Even number ftw.

Odd numbers would normally mean one is chambered. If it's going to be that, then it would be nine; eight in the magazine, one in the chamber. However, I prefer 8 rounds, and not including one for chamber (so you can't top it off).

Personally, I'd reserve the "7" for Forerunner devices or storytelling instruments.

I believe that the Halo Shotgun is supposed to be dual-feed like the Neostead Shotgun we have nowadays (google it): Two over-barrel tubes having 6 each. although it's also supposed to be 8-gauge, which is like 40mm grenade size. I find it hard to believe that 12 shells squeeze in there.

    8-gauge? Really? Hm.

Also, 8-gauge is not 40mm grenade sized. No shotgun shell is that big. I know that a 4-gauge is sometimes used as a boat-mounted turret in duck hunting, and even that most likely isn't 40mm size.

    Here's a few 8 gauge shells by a 12 gauge.

Considering that 23mm is roughly 4-gauge (used in a Russian riot shotgun, the KS-23, firing less-lethal rounds up to solid steel slugs), it is definitive that 8-gauge is most certainly not 40mm.

Even though the description in the manual states that the M90 is "dual-tubular," it could be that Bungie had no idea what they were talking about, and thought that dual-tubular meant barrel+tube magazine. The design of the M90 does not lend itself to believe that it is dual tubular. It appears single tubed, and given the size of the 8-gauge round, it is only realistic to assume that it is indeed single tubed.

It's double tubed. Take a close look at the magazine on the top of the gun. It's wide enough to fit two 12-gauge shells side-by-side. I really think that they made a serious mistake labeling it an 8-gauge.

Like I said, it's too narrow to fit an 8-gauge side-by-side. I think they meant to call it 8-gauge, but made a mistake by calling it dual-tubular and giving it 12 rounds. So, I am happy with the magazine cut in Halo 3.

No, no. The magazine is far too wide to be single-tubular. It would need it to fit 12 shells of any known gauge in there. I just think the mistake was with calling it 8-gauge. The barrel isn't even wide enough for an 8-gauge shell front end to fit inside. If you look at the Halo 3 shotgun, the magazine is narrower. That would explain its 6 round capacity.
