Well, its nothing special. I haven't touched it in forever so im decidng to finish it. these are just two bridges leading to the interior of a cliffside with 2 bases on each cliffside. Along the lines of gephyrobia,just not the design.

ok..sorry..lol And Rentafence yes i did. it kinda screwed up. but let's see. I was looking around in my max folders, and found my first and oldest 3d model. it was my first model i ever made in 2004. it was made in 3dsmax 6.
It was the worst i have evur modelled, but it has a cool design i think.
Its not much of a WIP, anymore. i made the shells myself. (poor though). I made everything on that gun myself; It was funny i found it in autoback saved from : Sept 20, 2004/ 5:43:29 pm.

hahah pay attention. i hadn't gotten halo. it was my first model. I didn't think of how to look at it. I was 11, so i just made it for fun in 3ds max 6. it worked. I just liked looking at it. i trashed it earlier today. cuase well its really not needable and my other models are movin' in. And yea. its supposed to be a gun; its a piece of shit. :rolleyes:

it's from the Quad RIS mostly. it's a different style. i'll get a closer render of the hand guard and you'll see what i mean. and getting in game would be fine for me i've gone higher in my game before but generally if it's for serious use that is extremely high. i'd put it in just for my enjoyment ^_^
what are you talking about? you can easily get that model ingame, and it will run fine as long as there is only one of them. And that is the case, because it is a fp model.
Every one who has modeled for past gen games would stab any one who tryed to put a model with that polycount in game.

And another thing, honestly why keep lingering on past gen games anyways phase? Seriously, a good way to expand on your modelling skills is to move on to better things like source and such that can take the 9-10 thousand tricounts. You could damn near model all the battle damage into the thing with that much stuff to toss around, but it would take an experianced modeller to do so. I think it's good that Penguin can move on from the silly tricounts of halo 1. Realize that games coming out, the ones that penguin will most likely be part of developing, require the skill to make a detailed 7-8 thousand tri count object. And I don't want to hear none of that pussy texture shit. I read up just awhile ago on the crysis engine that it would be more worthwile to model the details on then use higher res textures, normal maps, etc. Believe it or not, those create lag too. Games are being geared towards higher tricounts. Embrace it.

That's very true.When normal mapping, etc was introduced to gaming, it was very useful in improving performance. But now, along with a normal map, there are spec maps, occlusion maps, color maps, diffuse maps, alpha maps, detail maps, and whatever else. All those layered effects will take up a lot of energy if the normal map has to calculate all of the normals to create that effect. in higher quality games its better to just model in those purdy little details.

And yes, skill does appear out of thin air. In about 3 days I learned plane modeling from Snaf. I went from modeling 30 triangle boxes with photo textures poorly slapped on to them to making this:

I'm now in the process of actually UVW mapping it now. All because I asked for help. Maybe instead of being a pussy and asking for mercy you should fess up to the fact that you aren't king shit on turd island and ask for some help. Hell, go on google and look for a tutorial if you've pissed off all the senior modelers.

P.S. That gun of yours looks like you got bored half way through modeling an MP5 and decided to drag the front down for the hell of it. There are tons of errors on it too. Looks pretty gross to me.
Thanks but no. I just deciedto not make it cuase i already realized it's shape wasn't correct. so i am deciding to go back to biped's and level design. weapons are just not my thing;,. It was sorta something i came up with in my head it turned out to be something different in the end.

While I agree, it actually takes a while to get it to look right. Try it and you'll see. :)
It's an accurate representation of the real life version, so I don't see what the big deal is. Sure, not very hard to get to look right, but when it looks right... Sure, as a demonstration of modeling vcapablities, it's not very impressive, but as art, I think it looks pretty good..

look at everyone's work here. does anyone post abmiguous part of their work? no. please, work on your models until they're recognizable, then post them.
also, that box modeled object looks like it's most likely out of proportion and poorly done. i'm not aware of any stock that looks like that. look for plane modeling tutorials.
