And if you are so quick to pin it on just my computer, it happens on my netbook too.
I've never had any issues with the Sleep function on any version of Windows 7. And I've been using the Sleep function for months every time I'm finished with the PC for the day.

With the exception of the past few weeks, because I've been folding 24/7...
