Its a point and shoot game. Each gun does the same amount of damage.

I don't think I even need to elaborate on how stupid this is, but I will anyway.

Besides the fact that different guns do vastly different amounts of damage, there are a lot of other factors which determine the overall effectiveness of a weapon. Recoil, idle sway, damage falloff, noise level, multipliers, magazine size, reload speed, etc. In this case, the M16 has an edge over virtually every other weapon, in every category besides extreme range sniping ability and full auto spray. It's simply too effective in a vast majority of situations, rendering most of the other weapons redundant in a competitive environment.

Bear in mind that I'm referring to the CoD 4 incarnation of the M16. MW2 is far too unbalanced and horrible for me to even care about.
