Anyway, who cares about if it breaks canon? You have 16 SPARTAN-II's fighting each other in random places across the galaxy. How does that make any sense? Hell, missing some fog makes more sense.

Or maybe another Halo Ring blew up.
Suns go Supernova all the time, the galaxy is filled with giant rocks going at high speeds, there are several species all with high tech...technology all trying to blow each other up, the list can go on and on about how another installation could be destroyed.
Either way it is just a sky in a Halo CE multiplayer map.
either that or the ring is getting a upgrade to its inventory, surely after 10,000 years tech would have been improved the the caretakers?

Hell, the clouds shouldn't even be there in the first place - there's no atmosphere between the planetoid and the Ark - when you assault the Ark's control room, it's completely not canon - there should be a massive retaining wall holding the atmosphere in, just like there is on the other Forerunner installations, especially the one that is being constructed at the time. Also, ever stop to think that this isn't the construction of Installation 04 (II), but just rather Installation 04?

jfap, first up, this is MP. MP doesn't have to stick to canon entirely, just have some sort of grounding in it. Even so, there are points where you can see the core and right across the Ark in H3. Failing that, the average Halo player these days would be too busy crying about aimbots to give a shit, and they wouldn't have the intelligence to realise anything was a little screwy anyway.
As far as the lack of atmosphere goes, there's a difference between clouds and superheated gas clouds, duders. The shit around the core is the latter.

Ok, I'm having a little issue here.
I compiled a new BSP, got it ingame and lightmapped it as usual. However, the game exceptions when loading the map in the up to date scenario file, but not in a new blank one.
However, the same scenario with the older bsp loads without issue.
Any ideas?
Right now I'm fucking around with recompiling it, noting that it seems to have been a huge file before, and after recompiling the same JMS it's a whole lot smaller, so I'll see if it was just a bad bsp compile(?)

Guerilla is unable to load the bsp file, and stops responding if you try. Sapien loads fine, the bsp appears entirely fine in sapien. Halo crashes upon loading the map.
On a related, probably less important note, I was able to load the map ingame before running lightmaps.
Suggestions anyone?
note, this has a fov of ~100, far larger than halo's. Note the surface of the ark seen on one side of the inner rim. The arms of the ark will be added later.

Don't forget to match the rim's lighting with Halo's

i say you edit your bitmaps to make it look different. use a different cliff wall, different grass, and mb add some details/ware/tear/grime to your structure's bitmaps. and choose a different sky...the whole sunset look is getting overused(no offense). i would use dark, deep coloration and a sick gloomy kinda sky. mb even add a little rain in there. just do something so it doesn't look like all of the other maps out there.
you can ignore this if you'd like, it's strickly a matter of opinion. i just think this has a lot of potential and it would be cool if you put some textures on it that were made specifically for your map. good luck, and if you want to try my idea - pm me and i'll try to guide you and mb help you a bit. good luck, and nice work so far.

Hell, I'd make the whole map's atmosphere extremely bright, washed out, windswept and bleached bone-dry outside, (Installation 00 sub-chapter of The Ark - even though it isn't on the Ark, you could still use those bramble plants everywhere too) and dark, humming, and alive inside - not ancient, like Installation 05, but finished with that region's construction and already fully functioning.

You're right, there is a lot happening in the sky. The ark is a very busy place, especially at the core. However, I think that once I adjust colours and brightnesses, the sky will start to come together almost as one. The problem right now is the contrast between the blue sky, the blackness of space, the nebula, the core, and the ark/halo. I need to somehow stick with two colours; orange/red and blue in an elegant way to help unite different elements together while keeping interest. I don't want the sky to be distracting. Fuck that. Make High Charity purple. Take out the Sentinels for now - they'll probably go back in later, but finish one step at a time. Make the sky your own - keep the milky way in, but don't go by the colors that you are given from any levels in H3 - none of them are from the same vantage or during the Installation's construction sequence, hence, having different atmospheric conditions. Note, however, that if you include the galaxy, you must also include more stars elsewhere in the sky.
